Like many great ideas, Send Me Waffles began on a long run—literally.
In 2014, we ran a half marathon in Durham, NC that ended at a food truck rodeo. Since the race wrapped up around 10am, no one was quite in the mood for burgers or BBQ. But one truck had a line around the block: the waffle truck. Naturally, we joined the crowd.
What we discovered that morning was our first taste of Belgian Liege waffles—caramelized, chewy, golden bites of magic. One taste and we were obsessed.
On the flight home, Keegan started researching how to recreate them. It wasn’t easy—we had to order special pearl sugar and invest in a heavy-duty waffle iron. But soon he was testing batches and perfecting the recipe.
Waffles became part of our family rhythm. Friends who visited were awakened by the smell of sizzling dough and sent off with waffles for the road. That Send Me Waffles idea just kind of stuck around.
After the birth of our second child, we decided to go all in. We built our own commercial kitchen, launched a website, and crossed our fingers. Because what better time to start a business than when you have two little kids, right? 😅
Now, 6.5 years later, our waffles have shipped to doorsteps all over the country—and we’re still obsessed. We believe waffles bring comfort, joy, and a bit of magic. We’re just thrilled to share that with you.
