What is Send Me Waffles?
We are an eCommerce business sending high quality Belgian Liege Waffles across the U.S. They make great gifts or treats for yourself!

Why is a waffle business hosting a Virtual 5K?
The idea of our business actually planted its seed after a half marathon race we ran in October 2014. The race ended in a food truck rodeo. One of the food trucks sold Belgian Liege Waffles. We had never heard of this type of waffle before but instantly fell in LOVE with the unique taste. When we got home, we worked hard to recreate the waffles. We were smitten and we wanted as many people as possible to have access to these waffles. Naturally, when we were trying to find a way to connect with people during COVID-19 and bring smiles to their faces, we thought of going back to our roots and hosting a race.

What is a Belgian Liege Waffle?
What makes it different from a normal boring waffle?

Belgian Liege Waffles are yeast waffles instead of batter waffles. They go through multiple rising processes. Their consistency has been described by our customers as a cross between a donut and a soft pretzel. The signature of Belgian Liege Waffles are the pearl sugar bits in each waffle. Our waffles are made using many high quality local to us ingredients! Once you taste a Belgian Liege Waffle, you will understand the WAFFLOVE!

What is the best way to eat a waffle?
You can enjoy our waffles right out of their package but we recommend heating them in the toaster oven or regular oven. Eat as is or use as a canvas for all your waffle creations!

Why did you choose the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY as the beneficiary?
The Food Bank holds a special place in the hearts of the owners of Send Me Waffles. We both love food and are thankful every day we have access to it. There are MANY people in our world who do not have that privilege. Contributing to our local food bank is one tangible way we can help.
The Regional Food Bank has been helping to feed the poor and hungry in our communities, here in Upstate New York, since 1982. It distributes to charitable agencies serving hungry and disadvantaged people in 23 counties, providing over 35 million pounds of food a year to 1,000 agencies. You can learn more about their programs and mission here:  https://regionalfoodbank.net/mission-and-overview/
